My Own Special Way

I am an elementary education major, and this semester I have been in an early field experience class where I go to an elementary school twice a week for two hours. I've been in a first grade class, and I have learned a TON!

I felt pretty legit when I got this little name-tag, and then the work began. I was in my first grade class Wednesday and Friday from 12:45-2:45. Some days I didn't feel like going, but once I got there I loved every minute and I looked forward to coming back. Although I could apply what I have been learning in all my other classes in the classroom, there's nothing like hands-on experience. I've definitely questioned my choice of major, and wondered what else I could go into. However, as of now, I'm sticking with it because I love those kids!

My sad news is; yesterday was my last day with my first graders. :( And I really am sad about it; I'm going to miss them! I got to the school and we had a 'going-away party' where we played games, and just had a ton of fun. At the end of the day our cooperating teacher had all of her students sign a book that we read to them. My book is A Teacher for Bear.

It's a really cute book about this little bear who thinks he knows everything about school, because his sister told him it all. However, when he goes to school he has a different teacher and he needs to learn how to do think differently. It teaches how we need to do things in "our own special way."

After I read, we sat down and all the kids came up to give us a high five/knuckles/hug and say goodbye. It was so cute, and I really am going to miss them all!

Life

Don't take anything for granted. You may not love it right now, but, in the end, it will be worth it. In the end you'll look back and appreciate everything that's happened, because all of your moments make you you.

Everything will be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end.

Hang On

As the semester comes to an end, I realize how stressed out I am, and how much I need to do, and how much time I have. Let's just say that how much I need to do compared to how much time I have left do not seem to compare in any way. I realize all of the assignments that I should have started a few weeks ago are almost due, and finals that I am stressed about are almost upon me. Not to mention working and packing and white glove checks.

I think a lot of people are on the same boat as me, and it doesn't take much to rock it.

Well, let me offer some advice. I was in charge of devotional for my math class today and I quickly Googled some quotes on endurance and whatnot. There was a few that I really liked, but this one stuck out to me...

When you come to the end of your rope; tie a know and hang on.
~Franklin D. Roosevelt~

I feel like I've reached the end of my rope, and that there's not much else I can do to make it to the finish. However, I know that I've done my best this semester. I've studied, paid attention, finished homework and projects, and I've gotten good grades. I've been doing the best that I can.

This preparation is my knot at the end of my rope. I definitely have reached the end of it, but because I have prepared I know that it will get me through to the end of the semester. I also know that, because I have done my part, the Lord will help me.

I hope everyone out there who has reached the end of their rope can tie a knot and hang on. I know you can do it.

Deepest Fear

~Marianne Williamson~

I love this quote. It really puts things into perspective as to how we view ourselves. As I read the red text at the beginning I think, "Yes! That is my deepest fear." I don't measure up to people around me, and there is so much more I could be doing to be living a better life...to be a better person.

As I continue to read I don't change my view to think that I am powerful beyond measure, but I keep reading... "You are a child of God." I am a daughter of God, and I have so much potential just knowing that.

"We are all meant to shine." I need to be 'shining,' or sharing what I believe and who I am. By not doing this I am providing a disservice towards those around me. Everybody should share what they believe in and be themselves for all the world to see.

I believe in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that we lived in a spirit world before this earth and we decided to come here and live our lives fully. We knew of the trials we would face, but we also knew that God would be there for us. I know that God is there for me whenever I need Him. All I need to do is ask and do my best and He will meet me halfway. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that He atoned for my sins so that I will be able to return to the highest degree of glory in the Celestial kingdom. I  know that we have this full gospel on the earth today because of Joseph Smith. I know that he saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and they helped him to restore the Church. I know that the prophets and leaders we have today are called of God and that they are helping us to stay on the straight and narrow path and lead a happy life. I know that I love this gospel and all that it has done for me in my life. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Hunger Games!

So. I am a little bit addicted to The Hunger Games Trilogy.

Don't judge. Those books are AWESOME. If you haven't read them, go now and do so. You won't regret it, and if you do... there is something wrong with you. :) Okay, I won't judge you, but I'm pretty sure you'll love them. These are the books so get reading!

Since I love these books so much I had to go to the midnight premier last night. My roommates and I even read aloud the whole first book again in basically one day, and we made shirts and painted our nails and some made bows and arrows... I did say we were addicted... ya'know, obsessed a little...

Anyways! We went last night and had a TON of fun. I for sure preferred the book, like usual, and that's all I'm going to say there, but just know that Hunger Games rocks and you have now been told that you should read them!! So get to it!

Special Occasions

A lot of times people find themselves saying, "I'll wait until later, maybe tomorrow, next time, possibly, next time I have a day off, the next special occasion," and the list goes on. I usually don't think about this, but I came across a quote by the prophet of my church, President Thomas S. Monson...

"Don't save something for a special occasion. Everyday of your life is a special occasion."

That just hit me, because I know I spend a lot of time saying those things. I always think I have to wait until a special day to do something or go somewhere or talk to someone. The reality is, however, that just our existence is amazing and we should treat everyday like a special occasion.

I came across that quote on Pinterest... yes, I do Pinterest. :) While I was there I also came across this quote that I think fits quite well.

You have no reason to not do it, and there's always something to keep you from being bored.

Go do something!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Today is the day that you should all be wearing green!! The day that little leprechauns came to your house and left messes all over the place! The day that you find your treasure at the end of a rainbow!

Haha, okay, not exactly true, but join in the spirit of things and have a great day today! I decided to be a little festive and paint my nails for the occasion.

Giraffes

 Pretty much giraffes are awesome.

Everyone loves an animal print... well, a lot of people do.  I never really liked one until my best friend and I were chilling together and just having a lot of fun. We were just joking around about random things and by the end of the conversation she was for zebra and I was for giraffe. I mostly picked giraffe because I didn't want to pick leopard... it was WAY too popular. Anyways, since then, we've  both become attached, and we even found these awesome best friend charms!

 Aren't they so cute!?

I know this post isn't very exciting, but I still think giraffes are awesome.

I mean. Just look at these pictures! How can you look at that baby and say that's not adorable? ;)
